A bit about DC Greenworks
dc greenworks designs and builds green roofs in the Washington Metropolitan Area. As a non-profit, their installations are performed by trained staff and volunteers with an education component on the benefits of green roofs in reducing stormwater runoff, and hands-on training in the construction of the green roof. dc greenworks has installed over 50 green roofs, including the first commercial installation at 1425 K St. NW, the FDIC, the British Embassy, the Duncan Library in Alexandria, Belmont Overlook condos, 4 at American University and dozens of private residences. Their green roofs range from the built-in-place, extensive with sedum plugs, to a variety of tray systems, and intensive (deeper media), including the largest rooftop urban agriculture installation in DC at Bread for the City. How DC Greenworks is Green
DC Greenworks is dedicated to decreasing waste and pollutants, increasing energy efficiency, and bringing nature back into DC! Their variety of green roofs all work to reduce the amount of storm water runoff and help prevent pollutants from reaching local waterways. Roofs installed by DC Greenworks reduce energy costs for each building, and have a longer life expectancy than non-green roofs.
Why we think DC Greenworks is great
Other than being an environmentally-friendly business, these guys also offer competitive prices and are an active part of the DC community! As a non-profit business, the goals of DC Greenworks don’t revolve around making as much money as possible. Instead, they make green roofs affordable and the profit from installations goes towards expanding the use of green roofs throughout the capital region through education and advocacy.
