How Green Plate Catering is Green
In addition to its responsible buying policy and shared kitchen, Green Plate Catering is recognized by Green America as a Green Business. Some of the green operation practices at Green Plate Catering include using non-disposable or recyclable dishware, storing spices and seasonings in reused glass containers, buying products in bulk with minimal packaging, and cleaning with natural biodegradable products. When their new construction is complete, Green Plate Catering will also become a LEED certified building.
Why we think Green Plate Catering is great
We like that Green Plate Catering offers and encourages customers to eat lower on the food chain, offering delicious vegetarian meals, and to use glass and silverware rather than the typical disposable plates and utensils. Buying locally is also a great boost to the economy in the DC area and allows Green Plate Catering to take an active step in supporting individual farmers and family-owned businesses.
