A bit about OLD CITY green
OLD CITY green is a group of master gardeners, artists, and landscape designers that create beauty and serenity in gardens, rooftops, balconies, patios, and landscapes. Their mission is to invite nature back into the city by supporting local landscapers with market value products, and by providing the community with plants, garden supplies, training, and opportunities to increase awareness of and appreciation for urban gardening. How OLD CITY green is Green
All of OLD CITY green’s plants are organic and locally sourced from Maryland and Virginia, with a focus on native plants, edibles, and perennials. Their on-site compost pile provides natural fertilizer, and reduces local waste since they collect compost from neighbors, including Christmas trees!
Why we think OLD CITY green is great
OLD CITY green goes beyond the expectations for a gardening center by offering unique services. To save unwanted dying plants from the fate of a landfill or compost pile, they will take the plants and nurse them back to health. They are a drop-off point for the Lancaster Farms CSA program, and plan on selling honey from their onsite beehive this year. OCg is very involved in the local community through workshops, as well as working with Casey Trees on tree rebates, helping to plant Bread for the City's rooftop vegetable garden, and providing plants at cost for community projects.
